Community Soup Lunch

A Community Soup Lunch is being held on Sunday, February 12th from noon to 2pm in the Fellowship Hall.  Sponsored by the youth group, the lunch includes a bowl of delicious homemade soup, a slice of bread, beverage and a small dessert for just $5.00.  .  All monies collected  will benefit Manna House.
The Community Soup Lunch is being held in conjunction with the Souper Bowl of Caring.  Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990 with one church youth group and this simple prayer:  "Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, keep us mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat."  This youth-led movement has raised more than $100,000 million dollars for soup kitchens, food pantries, and other charities in communities across the county.  The youth groups at First Presbyterian Church of Newton have been participating for over 30 years!

Who We Are

First Presbyterian Church is a loving community of Christ's Disciples and  strive to be a place of hospitality and welcome for all God's people.  We have a rich history of witness and service in Christ's name in the Newton area and beyond, dating back to 1786.  We look forward in hope, trusting that God will lead us just as we have been led in the past.  On any given Sunday you will experience classic worship, vibrant music, thoughtful preaching, and warm fellowship.  Throughout the week, in addition to our church programs and activities for all ages, we host Manna House, Literacy NJ, and serve as an anchor for Family Promise of Sussex County.
