Special Offerings

The four churchwide Special Offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) are a collective
witness to Jesus Christ's love for the whole church. One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost
Offering, Peace & Global Witness Offering, and Christmas Joy Offering provide
opportunities for individuals and congregations to join together with each other and in
partnership with other Christians in responding to a variety of concerns.

One Great Hour of Sharing

Picture
God calls us to the task of feeding those who are hungry, creating fair conditions for others, providing homes for those who are homeless.  It can seem like a big task, but it’s easier and we can accomplish more when we work together.  Our church and our denomination, along with many other denominations, join together to make an impact in this world through the One Great Hour of Sharing offering received each spring.  Churches all over the country take part in this offering and when we combine our generous gifts together, we can do amazing things in this world.  Monies from One Great Hour of Sharing go to help victims of natural disasters through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, provide food to the hungry through Presbyterian Hunger Program, and empower the poor and oppressed through the Self Development of People program.  Sunday School children and youth will receive the OGHS coin bank in March, along with a giving calendar to help them understand the offering.  If you would like a coin bank, look for them in the parlor or narthex.  The One Great Hour of Sharing offering will be received during worship on Palm Sunday.

Pentecost Offering

Psalm 71 testifies that a foundation of faith established during childhood helps ensure lifelong faith and service. The patterns and lessons established during these formative years continue to bear fruit throughout a person's life. By receiving the Pentecost Offering, you are nurturing the faith of those who are the church to come —  children, youth, and young adults.
This Offering is received on Pentecost.

God of all people, stir in us a commitment to help shape the lives of our children, youth and young adults. As we teach and mentor, help us to listen to how you are calling our young people to lead, here and now. Amen.

Peace & Global Witness Offering

Christmas Joy Offering

Empowering congregations and individuals to become peacemakers themselves.

Through the Peace & Global Witness Offering, congregations are encouraged and equipped to find and address the anxiety and discord that is prevalent throughout this broken and sinful world

God has blessed the Church with incredible leadership in every time and place, but those leaders often need to be supported by their communities as well. This Offering addresses the support needed by some of our leaders, including supporting leadership development for communities of color, and providing support for Presbyterian church workers in their time of need.

The Christmas Joy Offering has been a cherished Presbyterian tradition since the 1930s. The Offering distributes gifts equally to the Assistance Program of the Board of Pensions and to Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color. The Assistance Program provides critical financial support to church workers and their families. Presbyterian-related schools and colleges provide education and leadership development while nurturing racial and ethnic heritage. This has been a Presbyterian commitment for nearly 140 years.
